Value Added Tax (VAT) 7.7%

All lots offered in this catalogue are basically subject to Swiss value added tax (VAT). The legal VAT rate of 7,7% will be levied on the grand total of the auction invoice (hammer price plus surcharge plus possible postage and insurance).

VAT does not apply in the following circumstances:

  • If the lots are shipped to an address outside Switzerland by the company Peter Rapp AG.
  • If the buyer produces an official export certificate from Swiss customs following proper exportation of the lots.
  • Dealers based in Switzerland can deduct the VAT paid to Peter Rapp AG as input tax on their own VAT return

Shipping of Auction Lots

We will ensure that your auction lots are properly packed and seamlessly dispatched. Please note that we are required to issue the necessary shipping/customs documents for deliveries outside of Switzerland.

The following flat-rate fees will be applied to cover packaging, shipping, and issuing of customs documents (for deliveries outside of Switzerland):

Switzerland Letter post and small parcels up to 5 kg, free of charge
over 5 kg at cost price
Rest of Europe At cost price
Rest of world At cost price

Your package will be fully insured by Rapp Auctions while in transit. For this comprehensive insurance cover, Rapp Auctions will add a 0.5 % surcharge to the auction bill. Auction lots which have not been collected and for which the buyer has not submitted a shipping order after 18 May 2022 will be stored at the buyer’s expense.

Delivery of Lots and Shipping Order

Tuesday, 3 to Friday, 6 May 2022 The lots can be collected during the auction and until 8:00 pm at the latest.
Saturday, 7 May 2022No lot deliveries, the house remains closed.

After the auction, the lots will be available for collection between 2:00 pm and 5:00 pm on workdays from Monday, 9 May to Wednesday, 18 May 2022. Please use the side entrance to the auction house (on the left-hand side) and register on the third floor.

Important Information for our Customers

In case of expertised stamps, the purchaser acknowledges the certificates and the signatures mentioned in the lot descriptions as binding, particularly with regard to genuineness and quality of the lots. Collections and lots are sold and handed over as seen. We are gladly disposed to give you any information. Complaints are excluded in any case. Please take note of our Terms of Auction Sale.

Estimates and Starting Prices

All individual lots offered in this catalogue are marked with our very conservative estimates. The estimates are intended to serve as guidance. For collections, holdings and estates – in contrast to the individual lots – no estimates are given, but low starting prices. Experience shows that the hammer prices for such lots are several times the starting price.

Payment Terms and Conditions

In principle, purchase price, commission and VAT, if applicable, are due immediately. The purchased lots must be paid promptly upon receipt of the invoice, but no later than 7 days after the end of the auction. Upon exceeding this deadline for payment, the purchaser is immediately considered to be in default and Peter Rapp AG is authorized to charge interest, currently at the rate of 5 % p.a. The lots are handed over upon full payment of the auction invoice.

Upon request and with appropriate securities, Peter Rapp AG may grant a time extension for payment. Please submit us your request for credit prior to the auction. We will be pleased to submit you an individual credit agreement.

Cites Export Certificate

A permit is required to export items which are produced using the skins and furs of certain species of animal and are protected by the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES). In Switzerland, the Federal Food Safety and Veterinary Office (FSVO) requires CITES export permits to be issued and also provides the necessary means to obtain these permits. As the FSVO is the only organisation with this authority, Rapp Auctions is neither permitted nor able to issue any certificates or export licences. The buyer is solely responsible for identifying and obtaining all relevant import or export licences for the items they have purchased. The buyer is also responsible for paying all associated fees.

Failure to obtain a permit, or a delay in doing so, is no justification for a refund of the purchase price or a delay in full payment for the item(s) in question. The symbol ~ indicating protected or controlled species in the catalogue is intended solely as general guidance for buyers and Rapp Auctions does not accept any liability for any errors or omissions.

Important Information for our Customers

Starting Prices in the Auction Catalogue

All watches and jewellery are deliberately given conservative starting prices in the auction catalogue. Bids below the starting price will not be accepted.

Condition Reports

Details regarding the condition of the watch and jewellery auction lots are usually found in their respective descriptions. However, a lack of details neither signifies that lots are in pristine condition, nor that they have no signs of wear, nor that they are free from defects.

Completeness and Working Order of Watches on Sale

We are unable to guarantee that the watches on sale are complete and in working order. Prospective buyers are advised to have the watches examined by a competent expert. All watches were examined and tested by both an expert in watches and an experienced horologist prior to being included in the auction off erings. If requested we provide condition reports for each wrist and pocket watch presented in this catalogue. The lots presented in this catalogue are sold in whatever condition they are in at the fall of the hammer. Upon the fall of the hammer, all benefi ts and risks in connection with the lots transfer to the buyer. All prospective buyers have the opportunity to inspect the condition
of the lots carefully in person during the viewings held prior to the auction. Descriptions of lots in this catalogue only refl ect an opinion and do not constitute a guarantee of particular characteristics. The auction house shall neither be held liable for incorrect attributions or incorrect details regarding the provenance, date, age, origin, condition or authenticity; nor for any other obvious or hidden defects.

Proper packaging of porcelain and ceramics is very complex and special packaging often must be made. On request, we will take care of professional packing and a smooth and insured shipment of your porcelain or ceramic objects. If possible, we recommend that you personally pick up the objects at our auction house Rapp.
